Wood is often burned to dry the tobacco leaves in cigarettes. It can take up to 5.7lbs of wood to dry enough tobacco for just one pack of cigarettes.
Licensed to Sell Tobacco
Licensed to Sell Tobacco
Where do kids in Denver get Tobacco products? They just go to the store. Tobacco retailers don’t need a license to sell tobacco in Denver. It’s time to change this.
Right To Breathe
Right To Breathe
There’s no safe level of exposure to secondhand smoke, indoors or outdoors…and all Nevadans have the Right to Breathe smokefree air.
Right To Breathe
The tobacco industry spends an average of $35 MILLION PER DAY to advertise their deadly products—and sometimes the ads are placed at a child’s eye-level.
Right To Breathe
Kids spend the majority of their time at school, and schools are supposed to be a place where kids learn and grow—not be a place they are exposed to tobacco use.

Hello Denver!

Hi Evolvement! My name is Nicky and I’m the Evolvement Coordinator in Denver, CO. I’m really excited to be part of this awesome community that is working for positive social change and a better world. I am originally from Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree and certification in Music Education. I recently earned my Master’s of Public Administration at the University of Colorado, Denver. I’ve worked for social justice both here in the U.S. and abroad, and I am stoked to fight against the injustice of the tobacco industry, side-by-side with Denver Youth.  I truly believe that youth are not the future of a better society but the current presence of one: you can improve your world HERE and NOW!

I am pleased to announce the recipients of the Spring 2013 Evolvement Mini-Grants here in Denver: CEC MC Interact Club, DC-21 Student Leadership, DCIS NHS, East HS Student Council, Florence Crittenton HS Leadership Club, JFK HS Student Leadership, MLK EC Student Council, North HS Student Leadership & Civics, South HS NHS & Key Club, and West HS FBLA/DECA. Students at these 10 schools can join Evolvement by attending a new member training to learn about tobacco control activism and our Licensed to Sell Tobacco initiative. Get in touch with me on Facebook for more information!

Be on the lookout for more posts and updates on Evolvement Denver…we are ready to make change happen!
